With 130 shops across 3 levels, an Auchan hypermarket, a Fnac store and a Pathé cinema, it offers a complete shopping experience just minutes from the hotel.
Opened in 1969 and fully renovated, the centre has become an essential part of the neighbourhood. People come here to shop, have lunch with friends, watch a film or simply stroll through the covered galleries. Its location at the junction of three metro lines makes it one of the most accessible centres in Paris.
From Place d'Italie to a shopping destination
The history of the Italie Deux shopping centre is closely linked to the transformation of the 13th arrondissement in the 1960s-70s. As part of Opération Italie 13, a vast urban renewal programme, the neighbourhood saw tower blocks, widened roads and modern facilities spring up. It was in this context that the shopping centre was born, inaugurated in 1969.
Originally designed as a neighbourhood centre, Italie Deux took on a new dimension with its complete renovation in the 2000s. The galleries were modernised, new brands moved in and the Pathé cinema completed the offer. The centre then became a shopping destination in its own right, attracting visitors from well beyond the 13th arrondissement.
Today, Italie Deux is part of the dynamic Place d'Italie area, one of the liveliest hubs on the Left Bank. Between the shopping centre, the 13th arrondissement town hall, the Auguste Blanqui market and the many surrounding restaurants, Place d'Italie has become a true Parisian crossroads.
