From Demi-Lune to Bercy
Born Alix Mathurin in Guadeloupe in 1977, Kery James grew up in Orly, in the Demi-Lune housing estate. It was there that he forged his artistic identity and became one of the most respected voices in French rap.
In 1992, at just 15 years old, he joined the group Ideal J and marked French hip-hop with cult albums like Le Combat continue. His sharp pen and punchy flow immediately set him apart.
Solo since 2001, Kery James has released a series of committed albums: Si c'était à refaire, À l'ombre du show business, Dernier MC... Each opus is a manifesto, a cry from the heart denouncing social injustices.
A complete artist, he also turned to theater with plays like À vif and Beauté cachée, proving that words can transcend all formats. In 2026, he returns to Bercy for a historic concert.
